A Word from the President

On behalf of the WFSBP Executive Committee I wish you and your family all the best for the upcoming holiday and a happy and prosperous New Year 2008.

The year 2007 has been a successful one for the WFSBP with the highlight of the 2nd International Congress of Biological Psychiatry being held from 17 – 21 April, 2007 in Santiago, Chile. I wish to thank the National Societies and our Members for their ongoing interest and dedication to the work of the WFSBP. We are now putting all our efforts into the preparations for the WFSBP World Congress 2009 in Paris. In February 2008 the Call for Symposia proposal will be opened. Please visit the congress website www.wfsbp-congress.org from time to time where new information will be available.

Please be informed that the Consensus Paper of the WFSBP Task Force on Biological Markers: Biological Markers in Depression is now available as free download for all visitors of the WFSBP website www.wfsbp.org (section “Treatment Guidelines”).

Further I would like to draw your attention to the WFSBP endorsed 14th Biennial Winter Workshop on Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorders, 2 – 7 February 2008, Montreux, Switzerland. Click here for updated information about this event.

With seasonal greetings and best wishes for a Happy New Year 2008,
Sincerely yours,

Siegfried Kasper, MD
