A Word from the President

I am delighted to inform you today that the WFSBP Guidelines for Biological Treatment of Substance Use and Related Disorders, Part 1: Alcoholism have been published in the recent volume of the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry.

With this comprehensive manual which includes numerous recommendations the WFSBP aims to provide up-to-date treatment options and thus to further improve treatment for patients world-wide and to spread knowledge also in countries with limited continuing education possibilities. I wish to thank Henry R. Kranzler, Chairperson, and Michael Soyka, Secretary of the WFSBP Task Force on Addiction Disorders, and the entire taskforce for their superb work. I especially thank Hans-Jürgen Möller, chief editor of the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry for his dedication to develop WFSBP Treatment Guidelines. Thus we are planning to present you further WFSBP Treatment Guidelines in the course of the this year.

As with all WFSBP Treatment Guidelines and Consensus Papers, they are made available as free download on the official website www.wfsbp.org!

I am sure you will find lots of useful and inspiring information in the new issue of the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry vol. 9(1).
