A Word from the President

I am delighted to inform you today that the WFSBP Guidelines for Biological Treatment of Personality Disorders have been published in the recent volume of the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry.

With this comprehensive manual which includes numerous recommendations the WFSBP aims to provide up-to-date treatment options and thus to further improve treatment for patients world-wide and to spread knowledge also in countries with limited continuing education possibilities.

I wish to thank Mary Zanarini, Chairperson, and Sabine Herpertz, Secretary of the WFSBP Task Force on Personality Disorders, and the entire taskforce for their superb work. I especially thank Hans-Jürgen Möller, chief editor of the World Journal of Biological Psychiatry for his dedication to develop WFSBP Treatment Guidelines. Thus we are planning to present you further WFSBP Treatment Guidelines in the course of the next year.

As with all WFSBP Treatment Guidelines and Consensus Papers, they are made available as free download on the official website www.wfsbp.org.

The WFSBP leadership has been working to make the World Journal more successful also from a financial point of view. Thus all National Societies have been informed in June 2007 that the WFSBP plans to introduce online only subscription. The National Societies have been asked to give their approval for this approach. We were delighted to receive positive feedback: the majority (76%) of the responses received approves online only subscription. We are happy that online subscription is introduced without affecting the structure of the membership fees. For more information on organisational aspects please see the respective section below.

Sincerely yours,

Siegfried Kasper, MD
WFSBP President
